Outstanding dimensional stability and durability over time.
Manufactured using recycled polyester thus saving natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
The premium nonwovens Terbond® and Texbond® are used for waterproofing membranes in the construction industry. The combination of the flexibility of polyester with the stability of glass enables excellent runnability, especially at high temperatures and when used on high-speed bitumen lines and gives the membrane outstanding dimnensional stability and resistance over time. We have all the technical possibilities to deliver the best solution for your specific requirements.
Waterproofing systems represent one of the greatest challenges in the construction industry. To meet the needs of the market we have developed a variant of Texbond® and Terbond® for liquid waterproofing applications, which enables the effectiveness of the entire liquid waterproofing system to be improved.
To meet specific customer requirements Freudenberg Performance Materials developed specialized nonwovens designed to provide exceptional performance in critical applications, including fire barriers, vapour barriers, and root barriers. Our advanced fire barrier solutions are designed to provide maximum protection, safeguarding homes from potential fire hazards.Freudenberg's vapour barrier nonwovens are developed to control moisture and prevent condensation in building structures. These materials are essential for maintaining the integrity of insulation systems and protecting buildings from moisture-related damage. Root barrier nonwovens are specifically designed to prevent root penetration and protect underground structures. These products are used for example in landscaping and green roofing projects to ensure that roots do not compromise the integrity of the foundation.

Terbond® and Texbond® are manufactured from recycled PET using staple fiber and spunbond technology in specially developed, patented Freudenberg processes. The nonwovens produced are needle-punched, chemically or thermally bonded, depending on the application requirements. To further increase dimensional stability and resistance over time, we produce Terbond® R and Texbond® R, reinforced with glass filaments. All product solutions are available in various basis weights and thicknesses.
Excellent runnability, especially at high temperatures and when used on high speed bitumen lines.
High flexibility and durability, making the nonwovens carrier suitable for demanding applications.
Prevents expansion or shrinkage and increases long-term functional reliability.
Terbond® is a premium nonwoven that is primarily used in the construction industry for waterproofing roofs. Manufactured using the spunbond process and available in numerous weights, it is the ideal carrier for bitumen waterproofing membranes. The technology used is the result of specific knowledge in the areas of spunbond, stretching with air at subsonic speed and fleece laying. This has been consistently developed further over the years through constant technological improvements, particularly in mechanical, chemical and thermal bonding.
Most important properties:
Terbond® TH is a polyester spunbonded nonwoven that is first mechanically bonded using the needle punching process and then thermally bonded. We solve this technologically by using low-melting polymers. This improves durability and tear resistance. We can change the formulation of the low-melting polymers in order to meet the most diverse requirements of the desired product, for example to individually configure the mechanical and thermal properties.
Most important properties:
Terbond® R is a glass fiber-reinforced polyester spunbond in longitudinal direction and is available in numerous variants with different weights. Thanks to the latest technology used in our spinning lines, Freudenberg Performance Materials is able to produce spunbond products that meet the technical specifications of the most demanding markets. Glass reinforcement is an added benefit and gives the products unsurpassed performance characteristics.
Key features:
Texbond® R is a polyester staple nonwoven reinforced with glass fibers in the longitudinal direction and is available in numerous versions with different weights. The combination of the flexibility of polyester with the stability of glass enables excellent workability, especially at high temperatures and when used on high-speed bitumen membranes. It also gives the bitumen sheet excellent dimensional stability and durability. The use of glass fiber reinforcement also eliminates the phenomenon of thermal memory: Once applied to roofs, the membrane is not subject to shrinkage due to temperature fluctuations.
Key properties:
Waterproofing systems represent one of the greatest challenges in the construction industry. Freudenberg Performance Materials has developed Texbond® R 70 and Terbond® A2 50 to provide structural reinforcement to liquid-applied waterproofing membranes, improving their mechanical strength and durability.

Benefit from our innovative strength and the unique possibilities offered by Terbond® or Texbond®. With our distinctive expertise and decades of experience, we are able to develop your specific solution together with you.
Texbond® and Terbond® are not only technically high-quality carrier materials for the construction industry, but also sustainable solutions that actively contribute to conserving resources, reducing waste and environmental impact. Freudenberg Performance Materials is considered a pioneer in this field, as it has been recycling PET bottles since 1991 to manufature polyester nonwovens for the construction industry. Recycling PET bottles means that we can replace new raw materials with recycled polyester of the same quality, enabling us to save natural resources. Eliminating the energy consumption necessary for the production of virgin polyester means fewer CO2 emissions, less waste and reduced emissions into water.
Using sophisticated manufacturing processes, we produce high-tech materials that are pioneering for innovative products.
In our second important process step in the production of nonwovens we different bonding methods.
We use supplementary processes to ensure precise finishing and functional optimization of our technical nonwovens.
