Evolon® –
high technology at its best

Evolon® is a unique microfilament material that combines outstanding technical and textile properties within a single product and can be used to realize a wide variety of application solutions.

One fabric, many possibilities –
for your innovative projects

Evolon® textiles are manufactured using a unique textile process invented by Freudenberg. In a revolutionary process, bicomponent continuous filaments are spun, laid on a belt, then split into microfilaments , and at the same time entangled using high-pressure water-jets, creating a fabric without the use of solvents or binders. Evolon® microfilaments and super-microfilaments are up to 200 times finer than a human hair and up to ten times finer than many other microfibers. The exceptional technology of Evolon® is the key to versatile possibilities for numerous, innovative applications with a convincing number and variety of benefits.

  • Soft and strong

Lightweight with high mechanical strength and isotropic properties at the same time.

  • Absorbent

Can absorb up to 400 % of its own weight in water.

  • Breathable

The microfilament structure enables high air and water vapor permeability.

  • Barrier properties

Highly dense and compact fibre structure provides excellent particle filtration, wind resistance and UV protection.

Outstanding textile properties
achieved in just a few minutes

The Evolon® continuous production process achieves in a few minutes what the traditional textile industry can only make in a few weeks with several manufacturing and transportation steps. The resulting fabric combines excellent barrier function with many other advantages of textile properties, e.g. moisture management and breathability, drapability, superior feel and soft touch, and very good washability.

  • Durability and Reusability

Evolon® materials are designed for repeated use and washing, depending on the application and treatment. In general, they are suitable for applications requiring multiple cleaning cycles, maintaining their mechanical stability under standard washing conditions (laundry analyses data upon request).

  • Mechanical process without chemical binder or solvent

Evolon composition includes polyester and polyamide. No PVC is added in the manufacturing process. No solvent is used during filament splitting, and no chemical binder is used during filament bonding, which is achieved thanks to high pressure water jets.

  • Available with recycled content

Certain Evolon® product variants contain recycled polyester content (percentage varies by product type, up to 85% of the total composition).
